Wire and Cable Prices in Montreal

Métal Longueuil buys electrical wire and cable from individuals, electricians, and contractors across the Greater Montreal area, at its Longueuil yard. No appointment, no minimum quantity, paid on the spot. A cable's value depends mostly on how much copper it holds beneath the insulation.

What we accept

Insulated wire

No stripping required to sell. #1 wires are heavy cables with a clean copper core; #2 wires are thinner, tinned, or multi-layer insulated wires. The higher the copper-to-insulation ratio, the better the price, a heavy power cable holds proportionally far more copper than an appliance cord.

BX / MC cable

Cable in flexible aluminum armour (BX) is its own grade, common in residential and commercial electrical work.

Network cable

Thin data cables, Ethernet, telephone, accepted as a separate grade.

Stripped wire

Clean stripped copper wire moves into the copper grades, including bare bright for heavy shiny wire. See our copper page for details.

Important: never burn your wire

Burning insulation off wire is illegal and dangerous, and burnt wire is refused at our yard. Sell your insulated wire as-is, it's simple and it pays.

Preparation tips

  • ✓Sort cables by type (heavy cable, thin wire, BX, network): each grade has its own price.
  • ✓Never burn insulation off, burnt wire is refused.
  • ✓Remove bulky power adapters and connectors when it's easy.
  • ✓Before stripping heavy cable, call us: depending on the type, it isn't always worth the effort.
